The 2017 Cabernet Franc was picked late, in October, and fermented in open top bins with eight days of skin contact. Our Cabernet Franc tends to be quite robust, so extra care was taken to gently extract tannins and color during the fermentation process. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 19 months in barrel, with some French oak to complement the fruit flavors. This wine has a nice silky structure, and exhibits notes of raspberry, blueberry, plum, and spice with a subtle herbal note.

The Heritage Series Cabernet Sauvignon is a small lot production that sources its fruit from the blocks in the vineyard that produce the most concentrated fruit. This wine utilized open top fermentation with twice daily punch downs to carefully extract the desirable amount of tannin, color, and flavors from the skins. After fermentation, the wine spent 14-15 months aging in a barrel with some French oak to complement that dark fruit flavor. The resulting wine is rich and complex with aromas of dark cherry, currant, and vanilla bean. The palate is full of fruit with robust tannins and a moderate acidity.

Petit Verdot, known for its rich color and robust tannins, is one of the classic Bordeaux varietals. This Petit Verdot, however, is made to stand on its own to showcase the rich and bold flavor of the varietal. The grapes were fermented in open top bins with twice daily punch downs, with 10 days of skin contact, and then aged for 17 months in barrel utilizing some French oak to complement the wine. This is a bold wine with robust tannins and notes of plum, blackberry, lilac, and mocha.

Our Ruah is our premiere red blend featuring primarily Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with smaller portions of traditional bordeaux vareitals (Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, and Petit Verdot). The blend is composed of several lots fermented in a variation of stainless steel tanks and open top bins, and aged for approximately 17-18 months. Some French oak is introduced in the aging process to complement the fruit flavors and provide additional complexity. The resulting wine is rich and complex with dark fruit flavors and hints of vanilla, lavender, and cocoa.

Carménère is often known as the “lost grape” of Bordeaux. As one of the six original Bordeaux varietals, it has nearly disappeared from its native region, but has since reemerged elsewhere. Eastern Washington’s dry, arid climate provides our Carménère with optimal growing conditions. A slight cooling in the fall of 2018 gave this vintage of Carménère some extra time to develop some more nuanced characteristics. The grapes were harvested in late October and fermented in open top bins, then aged for 30 months in neutral French oak barrels.

Our 2018 Carménère is medium red and starts with sweet notes of strawberry syrup, plums, and green peppercorn. Swirling brings riper notes of raspberry confiture and fig paste with spicier notes of sandalwood, oak shavings, leather, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with creamy texture and rounded tannins. The wine finishes dry with beautiful acidity.
