Desert Wind Winery is highly regarded for its structured, full-bodied red wines reflective of the unique terroir of Eastern Washington. Handcrafted using small lots of fruit, these wines blend classic winemaking techniques with extended barrel aging to create unique, food-friendly wines. We are perhaps best known for our flagship red blend, Ruah, which has earned an enthusiastic following and numerous accolades from respected wine publications.
Although red wines make up the bulk of the Desert Wind lineup, each vintage we typically craft a few limited production white wines (and the occasional rosé) available to our wine club and tasting room customers.
Director of Winemaking / Owner Greg Fries
Greg has been involved in every step of the Desert Wind story--from the planting of Desert Wind Vineyard in 1993 to building and launching Desert Wind Winery in 2007. He received his degree in Fermentation Science from University of California at Davis and oversees all aspects of Desert Wind wines from the vineyard to the bottle.
